This weekend we held our annual Artix Panel at DragonCon 2014 and one of the many, many new and exciting that premiered during the panel was the 13 Lords of Chaos Poster. Those intreped few who came from far and wide to watch us ramble aimlessly for two and a half hours were the VERY FIRST people ON EARTH to be able to get this poster and the avalanche of swag that comes with it.

BREAKING NEWS! Dragons & Project: AdventureQuest Omni
Greetings friend! I just returned home from DragonCon 2014 where we officially announced video game projects that you are going to love! WARNING: This post contains Brutalcorn thumb-wrestling, baby teleportation stories, and semi-spoilers about the new storyline in AdventureQuest Worlds!

The best DragonCon panel yet! I would like to thank everyone who attended giving us so much support. I would like to thank everyone who was unable to go (both staff and players) for being a part of our community and sending so us so much love. We hope for the chance to meet you and all of our other fellow gamers at future conventions. So here we go... STORY TIME!
Originally, I was not scheduled to be at DragonCon due to having... a baby. But the little fella came 2-weeks early and when a few other staff members had to cancel at the last minute, I got permission to go! Cysero and I came up with a funny skit. We kept my presence at DragonCon a secret. Then, at the panel, Cysero showed a video... which showed me at home, holding the baby... talking about how I wish I was there with everyone. Then, I was suddenly given permission! But how would I get to the panel (8+ hours away) in time? Fortunely once every 100 years a portal opens from my house to DragonCon! The players chanted a count down and when they reached 1... I bust through the door in the video, and then through the door into the panel room at DragonCon. They were so surprised! (Except the clever 20 of you that "busted me" finding me in the halls the day before.) To take the joke further.. I ran back through the door and appeared with a baby swaddled in a blanket. I smiled and whispered, "Shhh... the baby is sleeping" Then after a dramatic pause I non-chalantly tossed the baby through the air at someone-- it was a just a doll. Everyone gasped, then started to laugh. The energy in the room started building.
Brutalcorn invaded the panel and was challenged to "Thumb Wrestle to the Death" three awesome players. Fortunately for them, Brutualcorn is a terrible thumb wrestler!
WOAH! The player Brutalcorn is battling is cosplaying as Cysero!
Stryche actually had Cysero's joke shirt created... they were given to the winners.
George Lowe, the voice of Space Ghost Coast to Coast, also crashed the panel. We made him read the insanely long MechQuest plan revealing a bunch of new content... but George Lowe has never played MechQuest and had no idea how to prounounce most of the things on the page! At some point he just started making stuff up.
We told our most embarasing and inappropriate stories from the lab... we are really open on the design notes. But we are REALLY open in person. I apologize for any therapy bills resulting from the panel.
We got the entire panel up on their feet to dance along to the BattleGems Dance Dance video!
Also we got a special request from a player who's friend was a huge fan and unable to come... and very politely asked if we could just say "Hi!". We said we could do one better than that :-) We got everyone there involved... we made a video and the entire staff then the ENTIRE ROOM said hello-- you guys are so awesome. Furthermore we sent her a signed copy of the new poster and an action figure.

AdventureQuest Worlds' NEW STORY is here!
AdventureQuest Worlds players were thrilled at the seemless transition into the game's new overarching main storyline... "ANCIENT EVIL." A cataclysmic like event has returned the Elemental Titans to our world. Those blank areas on the map are about to start opening up. Also, a cast of never before villains have escaped from the underworld do to the... um... death of Death. It is hard to make the rest of this post without spoilers. So if you have not completed it yet, then SPOILER ALERT!!! Stop reading right now and skip down to the next post. Seriouly. Ok, so you are caught up with the current release? Then you know that the Hero is in fact the reincarnation of the Eternal Dragon of Time... the "god" of our multiverse. Before you actualized your powers, you also became the 13th Lord of Chaos. Following the tragic series of events that we witnessed King Alteon undergo... you went on to do what no other Chaos Lord had done before you-- conquer the world. Then... FURTHERMORE... to escape the underworld, you assassinated Death himself. Which, technically makes you Death too! The final battle with Drakath was the most epic series of fights and cutscenes in the games history. My Twitter feed was full of awe as it exceeded the hype. However, a fixed point in time... Drakath, in a depserate attempt to flee you, enters the Chaos Gate. Defeating him was the only way to stop the end of the world... but doing so would strip you of all of your powers. Just like it did Drakath. The decision of a true Hero... good or evil... is to sacrifice everything for your cause. You know what happens next O_O. The Chaos Gate was closed... but the Queen of all Monsters escaped into our world. Time happens differently in the Chaos Realm... so when you return a long while later, you find the world has been devastated by the re-awakened Ancient Elemental Titans and the villains that escaped Death's underworld. The Queen of all Monsters. the one who created Drakath, has returned to our world... to defeat her you will have to face the Titans and regain your powers. AdventureQuest World's true storyline has finally begun!

When I first talked to Orteil about the project and he said "yes"... I told him that I was going to make a video in my armor of how excited I was telling everyone. He probably thought I had forgot. He probably was not expecting this video, LOL!
This project is pretty far along... and the Dragons you will be raising in this game play an important role in the game we announced next!

Everyone who strives to reach the stars eventually hits a wall... ironically, the wall in this video is not a metaphor. I showed this personal video at the panel before we announced the next game project... it says a lot. It says alot about what it takes to accomplish something hard. Failure is only a temporary situation. Never giving up... battling on... persistance... is the path to acheiving your dreams! No matter what your dreams are. And you know what I REALLY want to make. ADVENTUREQUEST: OMNI PROJECT (Phase III)
Behold, our ambitious 3-stage game project, officially declared! Long live AQ2D & AQ3D!
For the past two months we have been posting ambigious art samples on Twitter and Facebook to get your feedback on different NPC and art styles. We have been asking you random questions and listening to your feedback. These images are prototype characters for our biggest and most ambitious project... a bold step to not only to age up our games, not only to future proof the games against rapidly changing technology, not only to bring our games to new platforms & devices... but start a snowball effect that will avalache right into a new AdventureQuest 3D!

THIS WAS THE PLAN OF "PROJECT OMNI" FROM THE START... and it gets better.
3D models of the character armors are being created at the same time the 2D ones are! 3D stuff take a lot longer to create, so building the assets in the background while making the 2D game will give it time to all come together. It is vital that we do it in this order to succeed. AQ3D is "The Wall" -- and the steps needed to climb up it are listed below.
THE GAME PLAN
Create a "single player" 2D AdventureQuest (Mobile & Web)
Use the 2D game assets to create a Multiplayer Game (Improved real time combat & PvP)
Create a 3D version of that game that matches seemlessly (Working on 3D assetsin background.)
Also... give the technology that we are building to the DragonFable, MechQuest, Oversoul, etc teams so that they can upgrade the games. We already have a working prototype of the Mobile 2D engine (It is a lot like DragonFable and AQ Classic mixed.) We also have a single player run around of the 3D characters (Cysero showed a video of it) where you can battle a few of the monsters. Do not get the wrong idea... this is a big project and will take quite some time. We want you to be with us every step of the way from 2D to 3D. You probably have a gazillion questions... to which I would like to say... AWESOME! Because, LOL, we probably do not have answers to them yet! ...but that means we get to answer them together.
Journey into the Realm of Chaos to confront the Queen of Monsters and face all 13 Lords of Chaos one last time… as the world begins to shatter around you! There is only one thing you can do to save your home and the people who depend on you: defeat Drakath and confine the Queen of Monsters to the Chaos Realm for another millenium! Dragon artwork is pouring in from our artists for our Dragon Idle Game project in collaboration with the creators of Cookie Clicker. Writing each Dragon's individual progression story has been really fun... and challenging! Each of the 12 Dragons have a unique story. For example, the Steampunk Dragon is not hatched from an egg, but rather built from a blue print then prototype. As the story progresses you continually upgrade the Steampunk Dragon's hardware and computer AI until you reach the singularity and cause a robot uprising. Be sure to like and follow the official AdventureQuest Dragons Facebook page where I am posting sneak peaks of the art and more information about the individual dragons... including the Darkness Dragon listed above.

Quite a few people don't know what DRAGONCON is so we should probably cover that first.
Since 1987 people have been coming to Atlanta, Georgia (roughly 8 hours drive from The Secret Underground Lab) for DragonCon which has become one of the largest Sci-Fi, Fantasy conventions in the world. They say that they get about 40,000-45,000 people every year but it's closer to 65,000 or 70,000 and every year, it keeps growing.
There is so much to see that it can actually short out your brain. it happened to my on my first year.When I got back my friends asked me how it was and I actually needed a few days to process all that I had seen and done, heard and tasted, battled and escaped from before I could talk to them about it.
There are panels about everything from making your own functional steampunk R2-D2, to meet-and-greets with some of the biggest names in TVs, Movies, Gaming and Books. There are thousands of people dressed up as their favorite characters, movie marathons, a sea of tables for table top games like Dungeons and Dragons, card games like Pokémon, Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh, board games like Risk, Settlers of Catan and King of Tokyo. There are several WAREHOUSE sized rooms stocked to the gills with Naruto headbands, Lightsabers (like mine and Yorumi's), Steampunk Goggles, Nerdy T-shirts, Comic Books, Video Games, Card Games, Board Games and other types of games, Art and anything else you can imagine for sale. There are nightly raves, Firefly themed shindigs, vampire masquerade balls and a constant stream of Concerts featuring people like I Fight Dragons, One-Eyed Doll and Voltaire... and, of course, our own Artix Entertainment Fan Panel.
We are a small company with a small but loyal fan base who keep showing up no matter how awful the panel was the year before. In fact, they keep giving us bigger rooms and better time-slots every single year.
At the panel we get to meet and hang out with some of our biggest fans, we talk about what is coming up, have a question and answer session, and Artix usually shows some movies that he's made over the past year. In 2012 our panel was AMAZING complete with a fight between Artix, Chairman Platinum and Sepulchure himself fighting surrounded by screaming AE fans cheering Artix on. A few people even stepped in front of our friendly paladin to protect him from the DoomKnight. 2013 was even bigger and louder than the year before and the people running the room were AMAZED by how excited our players got compared to the other panels on the Gaming and MMO tracks.

This year, those who have chosen to come and meet us will ALSO get the first crack at the 13 Lords of Chaos Poster before it is even released on HeroMart. They will get it before anyone else and they will get it signed by us.

A LOT of the famous people at con will sign something for you if you pay them, but lucky for YOU we're NOT FAMOUS AT ALL! All you have to do is give us a marker. We will sign ANYTHING. I mean that. Artix and I signed a dude's neck back in 2011.
NOTE: WE DO NOT RUN DRAGONCON! AE has nothing to do with the set-up or funding of the convention. We just attend like everyone else. It's an institution in Atlanta and has been held there for the last quarter century so asking us to have it in YOUR hometown next year is impossible on every level.
This is also the closest, biggest convention that we can get to. We would LOVE to come to the convention in your town or in your country but we simply can't afford to travel that far.

Cysero's Con Survival Guide! (revised 2014 edition)
DragonCon starts THIS WEEKEND and as has become tradition I am imparting my knowledge and experience to you all. This is Cysero's Con Survival Guide '14!
WHAT TO BRING
A Large Bag. You're going to to be carrying a LOT of stuff around with you and picking up a lot of stuff as you con so a large bag is necessary. And when I say bag I DO NOT mean a large plastic grocery bag. I mean a sturdy courrier bag or backpack. I will be bringing my N7 Canvas courrier bag, hardered for con survival.
A Towel. Your hotel room will probably come equipped with these but I always prefer to bring a large, beach-sized towel with me wherever I go. Hitchikers listed most of the uses, but for a more practical example: I have fallen asleep in the hallways of more than one convention hotel and it's always nice to have a towel for a blanket or pillow.
Energy Bars. Meals come unpredictably during con and staying alive can be hard. You never know when you'll be stuck at a table-top gaming session that lasts 14 hours straight... and if you leave the brutal GM will just kill you.
Bottle Of Water. See above. Also good for waking up wierdos who are sleeping in the hallways of your hotel under beach towels. Trust me.
Extra Strength Energy Shots (Optional). You know, those little bottles of energy booster that they sell everywhere. These things are not great for you, but caffeine and sugar have no effect on MY metabolism unless delivered in MASSIVE doses and you might be built the same way. Con goes day and night, all weekend long. And it's a holiday weekend. I consider them a necessity during Con.
Multi-Vitamins. There are thousands of people from all over the world at con and many of them have brought strange, exotic diseases with them. All these diseases mingle together and become some sort of super-flu affectionately called "Con Rot" that WILL infect you. Keeping your body's defenses up during con severely reduces the time and number of limbs you will lose to the Con Rot after you leave the convention.
Hand Sanitizer. See above.
Cash (Well Hidden). As you explore the convention you WILL encounter some stuff you NEED to own. Swords, pithy shirts, novels, William Shattner selling autographs... and there is a 50% chance that the thing you want to buy, you can't buy with plastic. If you plan on falling asleep in a hall somewhere, be sure that your cash is in your sock or in the secret pocket in your boxers, or cloak... you don't want to wake up broke.
A Mobile Computing Device. Most modern cell phones will do, but you might not get a signal in the underground mazes that connect the convention hotels. Having a wireless card in a small laptop is priceless. A smartphone attached to a 3G, 4G or LTE network will do (con-tested my iPhone in 2009, worked like a dream). You might or might not Tweet or Vine. You might or might not need to check your Facebook and Twitter but your FRIENDS will NEED to contact you about something that you HAVE TO SEE RIGHT NOW!
A VERY large bonus to a smartphone is the DragonCon App. it has schedules, maps and gets updated on the fly unlike your paper schedule.
You will eventually lose your paper one but so does everyone else so there are an endless supply of them in every corner BUT this way you don't have to get your hands sticky and wonder why the last person ditched it.
It has maps, schedules for panels and speakers, concert times... everything you need to plan your Con experience. If you don't have an iOS device you can still access the event app through their web page.
Phone Charger. Everyone has something to charge now so finding an open power outlet can be a real challenge but just like you never know when you will get to eat, the same goes for your phone. If you have an emergency battery boost for your phone, bring that but at the very least make sure that your phone charger is close at hand.
A Camera. Fully charged. Memory card empty. NEEDS a flash. Too many dark corners with Halo Spartans hiding in them. If you have newer generation smartphone with a decent flash, that will do fine.
Glow Sticks or a Dance Party App. in 2010 Alces and I accidentally found ourselves in a mobile rave. One guy was wearing the sound system and power supply on his back and his two friends were each wearing giant speakers converted into backpacks. The party never stopped moving. Alces and I took a chance, caught a cab, went to an all night market and bought $44 worth of glowsticks to give to share with our fellow mobile partiers. We were gone about 4 minutes, but when we returned to the street corner, they had moved on. We spent the next hour following the sound of those booming speakers until we caught up. If on'y we'd had the glow sticks on us!
Portable Gaming Device. Long lines. Really long lines. After last year this one was moved to the MUST catagory. Again, one of the newer generation smartphones will do.
A Good Friend. The buddy system is always a good idea. That's why I bring usually Alces. He's part Dr. Gonzo, part Chief Medical Officer and part Tech Support. He is all best friend and has been for more than half of my life. If you have a friend who has been before and can show you around the ever changing paths of the convention, bonus. Sadly he can't make it this year so I will be auditioning people to fill the role while at con this year.
A Zorbak Plushy (Optional). It's the ultimate ice-breaker. "Can I get a picture of you holding this guy, please?" "Sure... what is he?".
Good Walking Shoes. Trust me.
An Umbrella or Poncho (Optional). in 2011 the Venture Brothers panel line was long enough that it went outside the hotel and Alces and I found ourselves in the middle of a rain storm. With all of the weather coming from Tropical Storm Isaac headed toward Atlanta just in time for con. I suggest packing weather protection. A poncho will fit in your bag but an unmbrella makes you look swanky if you rock it right.
Duct Tape. This is just something you should have all the time anyway, BUT there are a LOT of people in a LOT of costumes and things start falling apart on day one. A well timed piece of duct tape can make you a lot of friends very quickly.
That should be, more or less, everything that you need to pack. Other options include: clean clothes, costumes, things you want autographed, video camera, your Battleon Battle Card deck (teach a stranger how to play!), a map of the con (some of us like getting lost), a pair of scissors (for a lock of Kevin Sorbo's hair while he's passed out in a fountain somewhere), a sketchbook (for ideas), a steampunk R2 unit, 8 channel progrmable remote control, Sonic Screwdriver, or grappling hook... just cause.

It always seems that we have a TON of fans at our panel but they represent a tiny fraction of you guys and we really do wich you could ALL be there. This year Im going to try really hard to keep a contact stream of Twitter and Vine spam coming your way so you can come with me and live DragonCon through my eyes (camera).

If you have been on the internet lately, you've probably seen the explosion of Ice Bucket Challenge videos popping up. Maybe you've been challenged, too! A few days ago, Artix was called out by Short Sleeve Sampson (from WWE and Micro-Championship Wrestling), as well as several of our friends and players on social media, to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. But you know us... when ONE member of the AE team is challenged, we ALL are!
So, in the name of an excellent cause, we joined the effort to raise awareness for ALS (aka Lou Gherig's disease) by gathering the bravest, most water-resistant team members to take the plunge. We are also making a donation at www.ALSA.org! AND to keep the word of mouth spreading, we challenged three MORE game companies... but to find out who, you'll need to watch the video!
What is Lou Gherig's Disease?
ALS is otherwise known as Lou Gherig’s Disease and this challenge is all about increasing awareness of this disease. You've seen this a lot online lately and some people are saying that it's just a viral publicity stunt and they are RIGHT! Thanks to the Ice Bucket Challenge, more people thanever before are aware of ALS and the ALS Association has blown fundraising goals out of the water...

Introducing the newest member of our video gaming community... Ash! ...Aidan! ...maybe Valen? We have not officially chosen his name yet. He was born in the bathroom tub of Castle Krieger at 5:39am on August 14, 2014. (For those of you doing the math- exactly 9 months and 2 weeks after the wedding.) The cute little undead slayer weighs in at 6 pounds 9 ounces and has WAY awesome hair. So. Much. Hair. He is healthy so we suspect all crying is due to his confusion over why he has been in this world several hours but not played any video games yet. I had the honor of catching the baby. Bringing it above water and watching him immediately take his first breath and spring into full life was a moment none of my words can explain. The midwife was amazing and the entire home birth went off without a hitch. Trinni and I are both anxious for the day you get to battle the evil undead alongside this little guy! --and grateful that he is going to be raised with you in his world.

Castle Krieger (what everyone jokingly call my home because it is full of armor and swords and has a moat) is now full of baby things.
Daimyo now sits outside the baby's room, vigilantly standing guard.
P.S. I was shocked to find out that whole Stork thing was a lie... the baby was actually in Trinni's belly the whole time! ...and here I thought it was just all that ice cream she had been eating during the 9 months since the battle wedding. P.P.S. Thank you for allowing me to share the most important moment in my life with you.
